I’m Madelyn Newman. I was born and raised in North Carolina, and a little bit of the South will never leave my soul. As they say, “I’m a Tar Heel born, I’m a Tar Heel bred, and when I die I’m a Tar Heel dead”. I’m a proud graduate of UNC – Chapel Hill with a Bachelors Degree in Economics and Anthropology, which makes sense I promise. I live in Atlanta, GA because a close proximity to chicken and waffles is real important, y’all.
I work for a software start-up and love the fun, fast work environment that #techlife affords. I do volunteer freelance work in social media for non-profits because helping people change the world rocks. My background includes work in many aspects of marketing and customer success, from go-to-market strategy and sales enablement to account management and user group planning. Basically, product launch plans, content creation, and engaging communities are my jam and I like to think it’s how I’ll make my footprint in the world.
When I’m not busy with my professional endeavors, you can almost always find me riding the rail at a bluegrass concert or stalking my favorite band Phish on couch tour. I also run a lot of marathons. Sometimes longer than a marathon, because 26.2 just isn’t enough. A lot of people cannot comprehend the lifestyle I lead of tech nerd by day, jam-band outdoor-loving hippy by night; I think they’re just silly. To them I say this – society places people in boxes, and often time these boxes are too small. You can be a lot of different things at once if that’s who you are, and don’t ever let anyone tell you differently.
I love a good pun, a great slice of veggie pizza and meeting people from all walks of life. So check out my resume, shoot me an email, or tweet something that’ll make me laugh. I promise I don’t bite (most of the time).
